Hailey holds events for mental health awareness

April 24--HAILEY -- The National Alliance on Mental Illness -- Wood River Valley will present a series of events in honor of May as National Mental Health Awareness Month. Proceeds will support NAMI-WRV's ongoing StigmaFree campaign.

1. The Journey to Wellness Art Show will run today through May 3, with art on display on at www.nami-wrv.com/art. All valley artists are encouraged to donate works of art, in any medium, which represent the concept of stigma and how the journey to recovery appears. Artist submissions can still be dropped off from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Senior Connection, 721 Third Ave. S., Hailey.

2. The Journey to Wellness Silent Auction will take place from 5 to 8 p.m.May 3 at the Old Post Office, 311 First Ave. N., Ketchum.

3. Biking for Mental Wellness -- a StigmaFree Ride will hold check-in between 9 and 11 a.m.May 12. The rides will be open to cyclists of all levels. Participants are encouraged to dress up in themed costumes. The bike-rides will commence at the Wood River YMCA, 101 Saddle Road, Ketchum, or at the Blaine County Recreation District, 1050 Fox Acres Road, #107, Hailey. Festivities will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center, 100 Hospital Drive, Ketchum. The bike rides will end there with prizes for most creative, best theme and largest group. Prizes will include staycations in Stanley, Boise and Sun Valley.
